Home of the Minnesota Vikings, Super Bowl LII (2018)
and the upcoming 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four, U.S.
Bank Stadium is certainly a sight to see. One of the few
Gold LEED-certified NFL stadiums, it features the nation’s
largest transparent ethylene-tetraflouroethylene roof,
95-foot high pivoting glass doors, 131 suites—including
23 located on the field—six club areas, two of the largest
and highest-quality HD video boards in the NFL, and
approximately 2,000 HD flat screen televisions throughout.
If you can’t tell, we love our football here, but really, all our
sports stadiums give you top-of-the-line treatment.
Fresh off a $145 million facelift that includes a new
façade and glass atrium, center-hung scoreboard,
premium spaces, and suite improvements, Target Center
is just 10 minutes north of Bloomington and in the heart
of downtown Minneapolis. The venue serves as the
den for Minnesota’s professional basketball teams—the
NBA Timberwolves, who have a rising pack led by Karl-Anthony Towns and Derrick Rose, and the WNBA Lynx,
who have hoisted the WNBA Championship trophy four
times since 2011 thanks to superstars Maya Moore, Sylvia
Fowles and Seimone Augustus.
The Twin Cities wouldn’t be a sports haven without
America’s greatest pastime. Here, baseball fans don’t
have just one team to root for—they have two. Calling
Target Field home, the Minnesota Twins proudly
represent the state in the MLB, and a visit to CHS Field
in downtown Saint Paul gets you acquainted with our
minor league team, the Saint Paul Saints. You don’t even
need to be a fan of the game to have a good time. Target
Field’s food and drink options are a true representation
of some of our state’s best fare, and the Saints keep
everyone smiling with an entertainment team and
co-owner Bill Murray, who might even be your ticket-taker for the day.
When “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince comes on,
Minnesotans think of one thing: hockey. Join the
Minnesota Wild and its 18,000 supporters at the Xcel
Energy Center in downtown Saint Paul as they try to
bring the Stanley Cup home to the State of Hockey.
The newest addition to the Minnesota sports family is
the Minnesota United FC—or as we call them, the Loons.
Part of the MLS, the Loons have kicked their way into
the hearts of sports fans, and you won’t leave a game
without at least one chant in your head. While the team’s
first MLS seasons were played at TCF Bank Stadium at
the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, their new home,
Allianz Field in Saint Paul, will be ready by spring 2019.
While Minnesota United may have left the University
of Minnesota, the appropriately named Stadium Village
area is still rife with activity. You can catch a game almost
any time you visit, whether you see our Golden Gophers
playing football at TCF Bank Stadium, basketball at
Williams Arena, men’s hockey at 3M Arena at Mariucci
and women’s hockey at Ridder Arena, or other sports like
gymnastics, tennis, track and field, and wrestling.
