Walk through the Little Mekong neighborhood, where along a
5-block stretch you’ll find more than a dozen restaurants and delis
serving food native to China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
Here you’ll find the Minnesota State Capitol, a Renaissance-style building
designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert. Standout features include a
dome that echoes that of St. Peter’s Basilica, a golden quadriga, and the
House, Senate and Supreme Court chambers. Tours are offered daily.
The restored railroad station where you’ll be dropped
off is a sight in itself, but you can also walk to the
picturesque Mears Park or pick up fresh, seasonal
produce at the Saint Paul Farmers’ Market.
In the wintertime, Rice Park turns into a winter wonderland complete with
a skating rink and giant Christmas tree. In the summer, spot the statues
of Peanuts characters and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Visit the nearby Landmark
Center, Saint Paul Central Library or Minnesota Children’s Museum.
Trains run every 10 minutes during rush hours. At transit stations, purchase a
two-and-a-half-hour fare for $2.50 during rush hours, $2 non-rush hours and
weekends, or a day pass for $4 to $5. A visitor pass costs $5 and is good for
unlimited bus and light rail rides until 2 a.m. the following day. Purchase online
